Quote of the Week: THE NOTEBOOK

So in honor of Nicholas Sparks' latest achievement in writing and filmaking I have decided to pull a quote from one of his most well-known films, THE NOTEBOOK. It is about two lovers who struggle with finding a way to deal with being with each other, until they eventually make it happen and inevitably grow old together. THE NOTEBOOK is without a doubt one of the sadest films I have ever seen and to this day I have a very difficult time sitting through it. It's not one of my favorites, but it does have its great moments. Here is the quote I have from THE NOTEBOOK:

"It was real, wasn't it? You and me. Such a long time ago, we were just a couple of kids. But we really loved each other, didn't we?"

Break-ups are tough and for so many what ends up being very difficult is the thought that all that time spent was nothing, it meant nothing. We're always trying to reassure ourselves that we haven't wasted however long of our lives in this thing that now seemingly means nothing. While at the same time, sometimes people have to convince themselves it meant nothing just to get through the pain.

This is something I struggle with because an ex may pretend (or at least to me pretend) like the relationship didn't mean so much to him. That's hard because you want to just scream, wasn't it real? If it wasn't real then what was it? Part of me wants to believe that love never fully fades. Yes we move on and we learn how to get by without that person, but can you ever really stop loving someone? I hope not, because then what was it all worth?
