THE HATEFUL 8: A Review

Quentin Tarantino has done it again. THE HATEFUL 8 centers around the tale of a bounty hunter, The Hangman, who always brings in his hunts alive. His current catch is a $10,000 woman, Domergue. However, when a nasty blizzard hits they are forced to hold up at Minnie's Haberdashery for a couple days with another bounty hunter, the new Red Rock sheriff and a couple other guys whose names we remain unsure of, because in the wild west, can anyone really be trusted?

This film screams Tarantino in every way. There is nothing special about the cinematography, except for the interesting and nearly unmotivated dramatic camera moves. The sound design is incredibly over-dramatic, but with the actors' performances and film's content it totally works.

THE HATEFUL 8 starts fairly slow and is chalk full of expository dialogue and normally this would bother me, but in this case I found it fitting because it made the last twenty minutes of the film that much more satisfying. It was complete with the ridiculous squibs and other blood effects that make Tarantino's films so iconic.

This film is not for everyone and should only be viewed by those who truly enjoy the classic Tarantino.
