First off, I apologize for the lack of posts recently, over the past month I have moved home to Minnesota after accepting a job with KSTP-TV. That being said, I do not want to neglect my blog! This Tuesday the finale of SCREAM QUEENS aired on FOX and I was in no way disappointed. It was a 2-hour finale revealing the last person involved with the Red Devil killings and wrapping up the fates of the characters involved.
SPOILER ALERT: Hester is the girl "baby in the tub" and as we found out earlier in the season, Boone was the other. They were raised in a mental institution by Gigi, the Kappa House Mother. I was not entirely surprised by who the culprits were in the end, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The season as a whole was incredibly well done and filled with laugh out loud humor. The acting was suberb and I will never get over Pete's Matthew McConaughey's impression.
In previous posts I mentioned the use of satire and stereotypes for comic relief. The season finale wrapped up the show in such a way that suggested sorority and fraternity life is synonomous with living in a mental institution or a prison. It totally worked and was a great comment on the toxicity of Greek life in America. I feel like I need to note that Ryan Murphy did not use this as a way to bash sorority girls across America, rather he was just making fun of them as he did with every other stereotype addressed in the show.
If you still haven't had the chance to watch this masterpiece, you really should try to do so, it won't be a waste of your time!
