What's New in TV: BLOOD & OIL

First off, I will admit that I only tried this out for Chace Crawford, but I was pleasantly surprised. Don't be put off by the idea behind the show, because there is so much more to it! The new ABC drama centers around a young couple who has left home, family and friends to try to strike it rich in a oil mining community. They quickly learn that with fortune comes greed, scandal and even murder. The new drama aires SUNDAY NIGHTS on ABC.

Chace Crawford is not the only claim to fame for the new show. He is most known for his work on "Gossip Girl" and friendship with famous vampire, Nina Dobrev. The show also stars, Don Johnson ("Miami Vice"), Amber Valletta ("Hitch"), and Scott Foster ("Greek" and "Once Upon A Time"). The killer cast aides the show in some things that the pilot might be lacking in. The first half of the pilot is fairly slow and lacks in certain character building techniques that might help the audience better sympathize with the characters. The turning point for me is about two-thirds into the episode when we see Crawford really start to fight for his new family. The series was sold to me in the last five minutes of the episode.

So is it worth it? Yes! But do not watch this hoping to feel happy or comfortable. It is slow and painful, but from what I can tell, a great new show is in the works!! Don't forget that's Sundays on ABC at 9/8c.
